Review - Improvising Bluegrass Mandolin Solos
As a player for more than 20 years, I often find method books that are not much more than a collection of tunes. You learn them note for note, and then that's how you play them. Not the case with this one...this method takes several phrases and brings them together to create really decent sounding solos. You can then mix and match the phrases to create your own solos. One of the things I liked best about it, was that the first time I played through the phrases, I picked up a couple of licks that I could immediately incorporate into my own playing. Any time I get a book that actually adds to the grab bag of "licks" that I have, instead of adding more tunes, I consider it a good book. I was convinced this was a good one about ten minutes after receiving it.

How to Kill Your Girlfriend's Cat

The Best How-To Book Ever Written!
Excerpt from the Introduction:

"After all these years, you've met the girl of your dreams. She's beautiful. Brilliant. Fun. Sexy. No old boyfriends darken the picture. No mother shows up six times a day. No annoying habits intrude. Unlike your last girlfriend, she does not practice the Ninja Death Strike while asleep.

The fact is, you've fallen in love. Now only one problem threatens your bliss. You ignored it at first, but that phase is over. You can't stand it anymore. Your girlfriend has a cat ..."

I bought this book nearly 12 years ago and laughed myself silly. Replete with illustrations, this book lists dozens of great ways to rid yourself of the pesky feline that stands between you and your girl. From "Catsorcism" to "Return the Cat to Its Homeland (Catmandu)" to "Take a Taxi to the Dentist? I Thought You Said Taxidermist!", this book will have you in stitches... Hire them as a cook or handyman for a day. Around these guys, nine lives just aren't enough.

If you love the girl, you'll buy this book. You want to stay with her, don't you? Remember, behind every successful relationship is a dead cat.

How to Live with Your Kids When You've Already Lost Your Mind

Honest, Realistic and Hilarous
Having a special needs child, I have read so many books about parenting in my journey to find out what I was doing wrong, I have learned a lot from this book. While Christian based, it did not smother me in many of the typical ways that have made me feel that I should be damned into the fiery depths of hell for my shortcomings and/or imperfections as a parent. It is the first book I have read that not only admits parents are imperfect, but celebrates that very fact! What a relief to not be brow-beaten by "perfect" parents and those "expert" child professionals. This book will make you laugh until you cry as you listen to the author tell stories as if he had been sitting in your livingroom watching you. This is a definite read for parents who want realistic ideas on parenting and for parents who need to be reinforced for not being a perfect parent. Outstanding! I only wish Amazon could get the publisher to print this one again!

How to Relax, REALLY!
AT LAST!! FINALLY!! A practical approach! Dr. Davis has plowed through all the fluff and mystery of the average book on the subject of relaxing. His is a direct, straightforward approach; what we really want, instead of the often confusing psycho-babble of books covering this topic.
I look forward to future books by Dr.Davis.

How to Speak Dolphin in Three Easy Lessons
Published in Library Binding by Bt Bound (October, 1999)
Authors: Dan Greenburg and Jack E. Davis
Average review score:

Talking to dolphins is fun!
"How to Speak Dolphin in Three Easy Lessons," by Dan Greenburg, is #11 in the "Zack Files" series of short novels for young readers. The book is illustrated by Jack E. Davis. In this installment, our hero Zack is vacationing in Florida with his dad, and discovers that he (Zack, that is) has the ability to communicate telepathically with dolphins. Before the story is over, he must solve a mystery involving the marine mammals.

This book strikes just the right balance of paranormal fantasy, silly humor, and mystery. Greenburg gets extra points for incorporating the classic board game Scrabble into the story!

Hugs and Kisses

This book rates 5 kisses
I realize this book is in the self-help section but please don't tell my 2 year old.

I've read it to him since he was an infant and now he asks to hear it at least once a week. Not only does he like to hear it, he has memorized parts of this incredible book. In fact, I've read it to all the children in our family and they got it right away. I wish their parents got it as quickly.

I find this little book to be easy enough to read in one sitting but several times my little son has demonstrated what it really means.

I would really enjoy hearing what other readers thought of this book.
